MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

It is my pleasure to welcome you and your parent/guardian to Newton County Elementary School web site. The teachers and staff join me in saying we are happy to have you as a part of the Newton County Elementary School family. We hope this will be a successful and rewarding year for you.

We are using this website as a means of communicating between the home and school. There are many policies, regulations, and services discussed in these pages. Please read and keep your handbook readily available throughout the year.

Many of your questions have been anticipated and are we are always available to clarify any questions. The telephone numbers listed for key staff members will prove helpful. Do not hesitate to use them.

If you have any questions concerning the cafeteria please call, Cafeteria Manager at 635-2680, or Mrs. Tonette Cochran, Food Service Supervisor at 635-2584.

Please call Mr. Mike Tingle at the School Bus Garage, 635-2148, about bus routes or which school bus you child will ride.

Mrs. Patty Gibson, School Nurse, may be reached at 601-635-2325.  Mrs. Jessica Loper, Assistant Principal, may be contacted through the school office at 601-635-2956.

Close cooperation between the home and school is essential to promote the best interests of your child. Parents are encouraged to visit school and to attend scheduled meetings of parents and teachers. If you do not have an appointment, please call ahead so there will be as little class disruption as possible. Mutual benefits accrue when there is meaningful exchange of information between home and school.

We encourage you to make a difference in your child’s education by building good relationships with your child's teachers and other staff members, by taking part in school activities, by making your home a learning place and by encouraging your child with praise, guidance and love.

We are endeavoring to provide our students with a safe learning environment and skills they will need to be productive citizens of the twenty-first century. Quality education takes a team effort! Please help your child be on a winning team!

Jason Roberson, Principal
Newton County Elementary School
